Matt Briefer CPA (President)
Matt launched Traction at the end of 2013. The goal: to create an accounting firm specifically positioned to serve the needs of growing companies. Since founding Traction, Matt has worked with dozens of businesses in various capacities (from full-time CFO to project-basis consultant), helping clients implement sound accounting policies, maintain books and records, file taxes, manage cash flows, and leverage financial data to drive growth and raise capital. Matt holds a Master of Accountancy from The George Washington University and an undergraduate degree in business from The University of Arizona. He is a licensed CPA in Colorado, D.C., and New York. Before starting Traction, Matt worked at PwC in the Mergers and Acquisitions group.
Abigail Burt CPA (Controller)
Abby Burt is a licensed CPA in California and Colorado. Abby holds a Master of Accountancy from The University of Southern California and an undergraduate degree in business from The State University of New York- Albany. Abby began her accounting career at PwC as an external auditor, where she gained experience working with company financial statements as well as assessing the effectiveness of Internal Controls at both both public and private companies. Prior to joining Traction, Abby worked at The Integer Group in their revenue department.
John Ennis CPA (Tax Specialist)
John, an employee of Bruce S. Hellersetin & Associates, P.C., is Traction's third-party tax partner. John's primary focus is on tax compliance and planning for small businesses and individuals. John began his accounting career after graduating from the University of Colorado in 1992. After several years working for Levine, Hughes & Mithuen, Inc. CPA's (LHM) and Clifton Gunderson LLP, John joined Bruce S. Hellerstein and Associates, P.C. in 2010. John’s professional memberships include: Colorado Society of CPA's, American Institute of CPA's, and the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts. John and Matt have collaborated on projects for Traction clients since 2013.
Zach Briefer (Bookkeeper)
Zach Briefer joined the Traction team in 2015 after graduating from the University of California, Berkeley with degrees in Business Administration and Anthropology. Before joining Traction, Zach worked as a bookkeeper for VIP Taxi and served as treasurer on the board of a large non-profit in Berkeley, CA.
Andrea Lang (Bookkeeper)
Andrea joined Traction in the Fall of 2017. She holds a BBA and MBA in accounting from Saint Bonaventure University in New York. Previously, Andrea worked as a financial auditor for PwC and McGill, Power, Bell & Associates, where she supported a variety of clients including financial services firms, non-profit organizations and government agencies.
Antony D’Avaro (Bookkeeper)
Antony began working with Traction in 2017. He holds a B.A. in linguistics from the University of California, Berkeley. As an entrepreneur and professional musician, Antony brings both a high level of organization and drive to the projects he pursues. Before joining Traction, Antony worked at Facebook.
Adam Deflorian is the Founder and CEO of AZDS, a digital agency based in Denver, Colorado.
